Is it just me or did that Meerkat thing get old a long time ago? Can't believe they are still flogging it.

not to mention the postmodernist deconstruction of 'Go Compare' man. Nobody at the meeting thought that was the lamest idea ever?

I always though the Meerkat/Market "schoolboy howler" to be particularly lame and annoying. Not only are they persisting with the theme but have now introduced an Australian wombat into the current advert. Like the current UK government, they really are scraping the barrel.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Over a million Jap civilians were killed by US air bombing, General Curtis LeMay said something disgusting like 'we baked, and fried and boiled those Japs alive', honestly, you have to question the suitability of these top soldiers for service.

When you redefine threats as something one country is doing to another thousands of miles away, then war is something you're constantly involved in. The rhetoric coming from the US has increased 100 fold over the past 6 months over China, who may be about to invade Taiwan, but why is that America's business? Why isn't it anyone else's business, like say France or Saudi Arabia, always America's business! The US has just sold 4 nuke subs to Australia, who like the other Nato nodding dogs, goes along with US war mongering politicians and military 'experts'. The insane US/Nato intervention in Ukraine is pushing Russia into an existential crisis, they may well push the button. It's a small chance I guess, but its one that's growing all the time, I wonder when the US will step back, if at all. The rhetoric meanwhile coming from Russian TV is scary as hell, honestly, they're constantly saying their gonna turn us to dust, really, they must have quite a different national psyche over there, it's horrible. We shouldn't be pushing these maniacs, I reckon Russia would send enough nukes our way to sink the entire island, they really ****ing hate the UK!!

John Pilger warned that the Ukraine crisis could cause nuclear war, back in 2014 in this Guardian article, funnily enough, all you get from the Guardian these days is drums of war nonsense, I despair.

I don't know who John Pilger is but the way he writes he sounds like a commie sympathiser.

Rather fatalistic I am afraid, as for Russians hating the UK, I doubt that is the general consensus. For the powerful/wealthy hierarchy it is unlikely as a lot of the Oligarchs used the UK as a money laundering base and heavily invested in property in expensive areas and properties. So sinking us would not be considered by them I think. Putin and a few of his cronies may not like us much, especially as his and mates assets here are frozen.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.
