The ASA introduced its ban two months ago because it found some portrayals could play a part in "limiting people's potential".

    Fuck.

    Off.

Hopefully Brexit is just the beginning of rolling back the tide on this bullshit. All the normal people have had enough, our tolerance is running out.

Before long it'll be illegal to call them snowflakes. You'll probably get arrested for holding a door open for a woman, good job nobody doffs a hat these days, as that would be regarded as insulting.

Nearly 65 million people in the country and they ban the VW ad based on 3 complaints... FFS. And the one with the baby on the conveyor belt sounds hilarious!

What people fail to recognise is that stereotyping didn't create itself. Like it or not, it generally derives from traits or perceptions based somewhere in reality. Seems folk just can't cope with that.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Modern stereotyping was created to be sold for profit. Most of them may have had a basis in fact once, but many didnt. Take pink and blue... That was designed to sell twice as many items to parents. Pink was always a masculine colour, but it was changed, in early 20th c.... Before the colour con, parents lust put baby no 2 in baby no1's baby clothes irrellevent of sex and no one thought it odd.
Most girls at a young age prefer steel blue colours, and boys often like dolls etc.

as to those ads, the second one is clearly stereotyping women as put upon and lacking drive etc. The first is more a joke, but it does suggest men are uselss at looking after kids.

after saying that, banning them is out of order. they are no worse than plenty others, and some of the worst are anti men tbh these days.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Had my mc refresher on Monday and absolutely loved it.... as they say it's like 'riding a bike'

I guess you don't really forget things but my instructor was so good and gave me loads of pointers and really made me feel confident again.. we did loads of slow speed stuff in an empty car park which was fun before going out on the road... then did loads of town riding as well as country roads... Weather wasn't that good and the rain was a real pain but I think that also did me good not having perfectly dry roads..

Loved it so much that yesterday I ordered a brand new MSX... it's being delivered to the dealer next Friday but they'll hold onto it until the new registration on 1st Sep... so I'll have a 69 plate... ooh ahh

I managed to get an amazing deal on the new bike with an extended warranty thrown in...so it'll come with 3 years warranty + breakdown cover

I'm so excited to get back riding again,..

Completely agree. And my experience is that for the most part, blokes are more useless at looking after small kids, largely because babies are so BORING, and there are usually much more interesting things to do than sit around waiting for them to throw up or shit themselves. Of course there will be exceptions, but no one wants to see them in adverts because they have no comedy value.

I know some people will be offended, and they are welcome to write to me outlining their anger. I promise I'll read them and not just chuck 'em in the bin, sorry, recycling receptacle
