I guess there's not much else to do in Warrington. I'm with Macca on this though. Personally I'd view not being able to go to Ikea as one of the few positives to emerge from lockdown.

I know it's been terrible for a lot people but I've not encountered any negatives personally. I get to work from home, which is a major plus. It was lovely and quiet round here for a month or so, with amazingly clean air. And since I've always viewed having to leave the house for anything except work as being a result of a major error in planning that's not bothered me either.

Well, same here, really.

I do feel sorry for those who have had young children/teenagers cooped up with them for weeks on end (and for the young children/teenagers themselves), and for those who have lost or are likely to lose their jobs. My sister-in-law hasn't been able to see her grandchildren for several months; there's a new one due soon and she may not get to see him/her for some time yet.

The lockdown has not really bothered me and I'd regard it as a brilliant idea if 2.0m social distancing became permanent!

Yup, I totally get that. However, I'm curious as to how you pass your day now, in the absence of working, how do you spend your time, for all the hours you'd normally have been at work?

You have no garden, you don't drive (not that anyone just now is able to go far or visit anywhere interesting), and to the best of my knowledge no other hobbies apart from hi-fi, plus the pubs are all closed, so aside from posting here and watching TV or listening to music, how exactly has Macca been passing his time during lockdown...?

As for Ikea [we've often used the Warrington store in the past, as it's the nearest], there's a couple of things we'd like for the garden, but nothing that would warrant being stuck in HUGE traffic jams and queues for, not only to get INTO the store, but at the checkouts, which even during normal times are a bloody NIGHTMARE...!!

So until things begin to return to SOME semblance of normality, you can KEEP it! Life's too short. In that sense, it never fails to amaze me how, for the masses, such things don't appear to matter - they just seem to LOVE sitting in queues and traffic jams, in order to buy things that are completely unnecessary!!

I'm still working 9 to 5. Passing the rest of the time same as I always do - music, telly, sleeping. And I've got a computer game where you have to fight the Vietnam War, Takes about an hour to play a turn and there's 120 turns. That eats up the time like you won't believe. Not a shoot 'em up thing, it's proper strategy game and bloody difficult.

Not really doing anything different from normal, like I said.

Oh yeah and at the weekend I've been cleaning up the house. Properly, mind, inch by inch. Still plenty of that to go at.
