This was my triumph daytona from about 15 years ago. What a noise it made through its high level race pipe. I had 2 weeks touring the south of France on it one year, 2 up with luggage lol. I can still hear it now!

    Default Suzuki GS-850G

Continuing a theme by Marco, this was my Suzi GS-850G, my only means of transport for a couple of years in the '80s. I wish I still owned her now - my son has had all the latest the latest models - Fireblade, Black Knight etc, but none feel as comfortable on a long cruise as did my 850G. Difference between the 850G and the 1000G, as far as I know, the 1000 had an aluminium engine with sleeved cylinders and the 850 had an all-cast iron engine block.

GrahamS - It's not what you hear that counts, it's what you think you hear........

Present Kit: NAD 326BEE, NAD C515BEE CD player, JVC QL-7 DD turntable, JVC Tonearm, Shure M97Ve, Audio Technica AT95EX, Pickering V15, JVC Z1E, Wharfedale Diamond 230s, Visual Rio interconnects and My Ears.

Well I did not know that - I had always assumed the 850G was a bored-out GS750, but with shaft drive and GS Thou bodywork. All the early Suzy multis were handsome devils imo.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

    KICKSTARTER: ENABLING SCAMMERS SINCE 2009

You are quite correct, Steve - the 850 engine was based on the 750 but with bigger pistons/bore and the cams came from the 1000.

My mate had a Tiger 110 years ago, it was a brilliant bike. He also had a 500 Speed Twin which was a good ride but had the reputation for catching fire......which his did in the middle of Brighton one Saturday afternoon.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I have fond memories of my time with my GS1000S, it was everything I wanted in a bike back in the 80's. Sadly it came to a very sorry end involving a wet road, a diesel spill and a metal railing. R.I.P. old girl
