I like the reptile/crocodilian reference of the Caiman.

A top of the line Standac ought to be called the Beresford Archos after the Archosaurs or 'Ruling Reptiles'

I expect Mr Themis would prefer the Beresford Dimetrodon though!

I can sell him my DAC for £3,000. It'll be good enough for him and it'll certainly be good for me.

Isn't Archos already being used by another audio product?

A brand rather than a model name, I think Stan.

It doesn't roll off the tongue in a fashionable sense to me. Anyhow, keep those names flowing.

Hmm. I was thinking more along the lines of half a Grand...

A guy I knew had a business called Le Grand.

One name that sticks in my mind to use is also from my neck of the woods (the Amazone jungle, where I was born). It's Fer De lance. The reason for that can be found in Wikipedia:

It is a member of the group of snakes known as pit vipers. Like other pit vipers it has two indentations or 'pits' behind and above the nostrils which can detect a rise or drop in temperature of just 0.001degrees C, allowing it to detect warm-blooded mammals. These 'pits', coupled with its tongue to 'taste' the air, allow the fer-de-lance to strike with great accuracy even in total darkness.

That kind of describes digital data reproduction accuracy.
