    All subs are good subs!

TBH it looks like you have a great collection Roy. Mine is a lot more modest. But like with everything I insist on using them rather than just 'having' them. I have a Brietling that runs about 5 mins a fortnight slow (and it got worse after Breitling serviced it!!!) - that watch I've done everything but concrete in. I have a Sinn that I use for canyoneering and going away to places when I think a watch might be noticed.....

The one thing I don't do is dive in a Sub - a dive computer is much more efficient for that

I often wonder if I should pare down the collection (which stands at over 100 at the moment) & just have half a dozen or so 'decent' pieces but I enjoy the 'cheapies' as much as I do the more expensive pieces. I do try to wear them all, it takes me longer to decide on a watch to wear than it does my clothes.

Talking of subs (they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery)

There are some very good micro brands - NTH, Damasko, Yema, Steinhart etc. If they did a close Daytona version I'd be all over it!

Some interesting looking watches (don't encourage me!). Had a Stuhrling, wasn't impressed & moved it on after a week. I like Invictas but it would seem I'm in the minority.

    Pick your comfort point...
spend a grand get a Daytona no-one but an AD could tell apart.
    ...but it’s not a Daytona.

Only the wearer knows the fake, and where’s the fun in that?
Agree, there’s some fantastic innovative design work being done in the Micro Brand world, I’d look to that before anything else.

    That said,
love my Grail watches, good investments to pass on.

Yup, a modern pocketwatch, for different reasons wouldn't have same feel. No history for one.
I've 2 that are 130 yrs old.. You are investing in history there. As well as craftsmanship

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I only have two watches: a 49 year old Rolex Oyster, which is worn everyday and has been all over the world with me, and a Bulova quartz, which is only worn with my Dinner Jacket, so far less frequently.

Last week I had occasion to wear the Bulova with my DJ, so thought I would post it here.
