This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy.”

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself. -- Johann Sebastian Bach.

image.jpgPopped in to see the guys in my local AD for a chat, and yes, bought another watch! It was in the sale though.

On my wrist today, and will be for a long time, is my Alpina Geneve Startimer Chronograph on a handmade (by Pavel) Horween burgundy leather strap.

Love this piece. Such amazing clarity and can be easily read by eyes with slightly naff short distance focus (i.e. mine).
