I know what you mean about the price tag Grant...The Ingersoll face is too busy for me...I like Roy's idea about the no date version Submariner...I've had a couple of Rolex's Subs in my hand. There is just something about them..a superior finish watch, built like a tank, but as you say, are they worth that sort of Money. I'm Sceptical...Saying that, a lottery win would have be buying a few...

Anyway I'm now on 2 waiting lists, 1 AD said it would be about a year's wait for the no date version I want, the other wouldn't commit to a waiting time but said I would get preferential treatment as I purchased my Explorer II there.

Watchfinder & Co have a number of Subs, including a no date at £6950.

One of my old pockets, from 19th century cost $39 for movement in the day. which was a fair amount then I believe. Guess if you put a nice gold case on it would be over $100 then. gold wasnt as high as now of course. Just think pockets are better value.

Are they selling for less elsewhere?

I’ve had watches from them sans box and papers, never had a problem if that’s the issue.

    Retail's £5,650, I'd rather wait a year, get a brand new one & save £1,300
