Whereas I left school, went to work, hated it, went to university, loved it and, in hindsight, should have stayed there. (I had the chance to stay on and do an MA but decided to move to London and work instead). What prevented me from retiring earlier than I did was having two children to support, and having to live on one salary while they were small.

I'm a great believer in destiny, and the old (Scottish) saying of: 'What's for you, won't go by you'... That's probably why I ended up discovering my natural aptitude for selling, and which was what shaped my career, rather than my love for languages.
I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed uni, as I'm not a natural scholar (or indeed geek), so I doubt that that environment or lifestyle would've suited me in the longterm.

The fish was about £3.50 off the fresh fish counter in Sainsbury's. Cheaper than Dover Sole by a long shot given the weight of it which was 325g. So probably £4.25 - 4.50 max given the quantity of carrots and new pots I got.
Not bad really.
