Nice one. When you use them, just make sure that the bit that goes into the neck of the bottle is firmly seated (pushed as far down as it'll go), before you being pumping the air out, and in that respect, keep going until there is NO air left.

You'll know that when it becomes really stiff to pump!

Should have read more of the product description before ordering, they don't work with screw top bottles unfortunately

Ah, we rarely buy wine with screw tops, sorry. However, wines with screw tops are usually sealed much better from air, than corks (once opened), so in my experience don't benefit to the same degree from pumping.

In reality, therefore, if you pour a glass of wine, then screw the cap back on immediately until you need a refill, then do the same when you're finished, the wine should stay fresh for at least a couple of days (possibly more) after opening, unlike corks, where once opened wine will notably deteriorate within a few hours.

Also, you could use the opportunity to drink better wine, which needn't be more expensive, and that has a cork rather than a screw top!

We're going to Asda on Thursday, to do some shopping, so if you give me a budget and remind me again of your fav reds (or whites), I'll find some suitable ones with corks for you to try, so you can use your new stoppers

Looks very much like our local Turkish restaurant, but unfortunately neither of them offer Arnavut Cigeri (Turkish liver with onions), which is my favourite starter; and a dish with which I judge the cuisine.

    Liver? UGH...

One of the few things I can't eat on its own. Fine though, in pâté, when combined with other much nicer ingredients, which dilute the taste of the liver! Although, TBH, I don't really 'do' any type of offal.

If it's animal internal organs, I'm out...

No wine stopper or pump will allow the wine to 'hang around for a few days'. The most you can keep an opened wine bottle for will be three days maximum.

I use a Le Creuset wine pump and make sure the rest of the wine is drunk the following day.
