Think I said before. I tried locally caught fresh Gurnod in batter from the local chippy in Cornwall. It was the best fish I've tasted (great chips too).

fancy fish used to be expensive when i was young so it wasnt really bought much. if at all. if it was it was for dad. Chicken was a luxury food too. so you end up with a taste you like and dislike i guess. habit too. Not everyone eats to have an orgasm either. many folk just eat to survive i guess, and whats easiest too as many families are now both parents working to pay bills. My daughter would love to give up work, but cant. But she and her man do cook most stuff from scratch. A lot of folk are not taught how to cook as well... its sad but true

Cool, but it's not exactly French, is it?

I'm just surprised that some of your French heritage hasn't stuck, in terms of the food you eat, in the way that's happened with my Italian heritage. Do you know what I mean, and if so, why do you reject your French heritage, and instead eat what is very safe (one could say a little bland/boring, no offence) British 'stodge', pies, chips and beans, etc'?

I'm just trying to understand what makes you 'tick', food wise, that's all, as this whole subject fascinates me

"Fancy fish", lol... I know what you mean, but wasn't there a fishmonger in your local town where you grew up?

As for the rest, yes I totally understand and accept that as being an issue, and yes it is a little sad. I guess I was fortunate to have had a rather different upbringing. I certainly could've easily tired of fish suppers!
