    Speaking of fishy things

Just got this in my head today, so had to do it.

Toasted sourdough rubbed with garlic, fresh tomato salsa with lime, avocado and feta, hard boiled egg, boneless sardine fillets and a drizzle of good olive oil and authentic Mexican hot sauce (Valentina).

    Tastes good

    Ye've nae taste!

I like strong flavours. When you eat the sauce, it actually doesn't taste fishy. A bit like fish sauce, when used in Thai food. Just adds a pleasant salty tang.

That does look excellent. Where do you get the filleted sardines?

Like a sardine, me. Very underated fish.

You have just inspired me to eat these.

They were just John West Boneless Sardines in Sunflower Oil. :-)

I don't mind Sardines as long as there's something equally robust to balance the strong taste. To be honest, I should have left the Feta out of that mix as it was already salty enough. Works well with the Hot Sauce though (as I can see from your "Piment") :-)

I ate them with Cholula Chipotle hot sauce and sliced tomato. That hot sauce goes really well with those sardines for some reason.

M&S do fresh filleted sardines - well recommended.

But just ordinary fresh sardines dipped in well seasoned flower and fried in olive oil is a fave of mine

Fresh sardines are also great simply barbecued. Just as the Portuguese enjoy them, who probably consume more than anyone else!

Default OK, What's For Lunch or Tea Today?

Have had some Corn-Fed Chicken Thighs and Drumsticks marinating in Yoghurt and homemade Harissa all day long.
I'm going to throw them on top of some roughly chopped onion and peppers (and probably some spuds too) and roast it all in the oven when I get in from work.

    ..pictures to follow..

    It’s goin’ in
