Default OK, What's For Lunch or Tea Today?

French style lentil and bacon soup made last night, just popped the slow cooker on when I went out to work. Using brown lentils (green is fine too) as they keep their shape.

What makes it French style? Using a mirepoix (finely chopped carrot, onion and celery, sautéed for 10 mins) as the base, and adding a can of chopped tomatoes and 3x crushed cloves of garlic, bay leaf and a big pinch of dried thyme, plenty of black pepper. Then in goes a litre of veg or chicken broth.

I tend to use at least half a pack of streaky bacon, cut quite finely, which goes into the mirepoix after it’s been sautéing for about 5mins.

    Will add some piccies tonight.

As someone who loves beans, peas and pulses in any form, that sound good to me.

It sits far more nicely on the rice, IMHO. Uncooked baby leaf spinach is perilously close to being salad and that has no place on a gentleman’s plate!

Mrs. B is out this evening so it’s Aberdeen Angus burgers at Beobloke Towers tonight.

Nah, wild rice is the perfect accompaniment!

Is that Stroganoff from Asda's 'Extra Special' range, by any chance, Grant? Looks like something I've seen before

Naughty boy, she told me you needed more greens in your diet, to improve your 'performance'. Can't think what she was referring to!
