Can't decide if you're being subtly denigrating about Iceland (viewed as a slightly plebeian place to shop) or just honest?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Lol... Just honest, as always. But nothing denigrating intended. We buy very little frozen food, so have no reason to go to Iceland - and if you don't go there then you wouldn't know what they sold, including wine!

Fair enough. We've got a largish Iceland in the bigger of the local shopping centres & they carry a fair range of fresh veg & fruit (nothing special) but their prices are keener than the Co-op & Sainsburys in the same centre.

Noticed your Lidl wine recs so will swing by there on Thursday as I'm going out to get my haircut anyway. That Chianti looks interesting.

Good stuff, mate. Yeah, all those wines are worth having, but the Chianti is the standout, and trust me a veritable billy bargain... Fruity and full-bodied, with plenty of richness, structure and depth. No idea how they do it for the money!

Meant to say, Roy, that I also picked up a bottle of this rather splendid looking Chilean Malbec:

Seems like another Billy Bargain, but I haven't tried it yet!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
