Could you kindly recommend me a top notch Whisky for a Christmas gift to my son in Oz, something that maybe punches above its price range would be great.

Looking to spend up to £50 and would like to purchase/send via Amazon.

Any good offers out there at the mo ?

    Thanks !
This Laga is very good; a great length and aftertaste: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lagavulin-Y...5805982&sr=8-4

The Ardbeg An Oa is very good indeed; complex but sweet/fruity and syrupy too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ardbeg-Oa-S...806016&sr=8-12

This Askaig is great; a drop of water and it really comes to life : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Port-Askaig...ERJEKG9ZD6Q5SE

This Navigator is amazing; salty and sweet with great fresh flavours. It's an experience if never drunk before; the saltiness is amazing and really suits it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Old-Pultene...s%2C152&sr=8-1

For £50 and under; these would be my choices. Having had them all, the toss up for me would be the Laga and Old Pulteney for being different. The Ardbeg is stunning though

    Decent price, too.

See I used to like Glenfarclas but now they're over sweet to me. Not sure if it's a pallette change on my behalf or if they're using different sherry butts. My brother and I had the 15 year old earlier this year and it just seemed to be trying too hard, if this makes any sense?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Just a heads-up: Lidl has its Reserva Carmenere back in stock for the absurd pride of £5.99.

I don't think there is any better value than the Glengoyne Legacy at the moment - still just 39.99 on Amazon but only lovers of full on sherry bombs need apply ...
