The Johns lane sold out in 48 hours, but this was going on the shelf while I was there and i'm ok with that for now.
Found a bottle of Powers JL at Bevmo and this is good, It is not my favorite but wow! a mouth coating of oranges ,short bread cookies, chocolate, pairs, apple,
    Coats like an older whisky.

Pikesville, Redemption Rye, Whistle Pig 12, Foresters Rye is top shelf for not much money a real steal at $25.00 a liter. Cheaper but also good Rittenhouse BNB Rye.
I am a Rye drinker and Old Forester is the go too bottle.I will replace the next bottle of Rye I empty with Old Forester as my cabinet is just to full and I will never finish my other Rye bottles if OF is in the house.
Can't count out the Saz either.

    Fettercairn Fasque.

Lovely drop, and I only have one occasionally.

The closest to this would be the 12 year? Some how the color makes it look older 14 -16 year?

    Looks right to me.

I don't like Carmel colored whiskey as it messes with the perception of real age. My one fault with Naked Grouse, but I still love it.
Just the sheer enjoyment of saying would you like to have a drink from my unicorn bottle would be worth the price.
Only bottle I have ever seen with an actual unicorn ! and here it would be anyway!

The arch and the unicorn are two symbols that are heavily associated with Fettercairn. The unicorn is said to stand for purity and strength and has been a symbol of Scotland since the reign of King Robert III. It is also used within the Ramsay clan crest, of which the founder Alexander Ramsay brought with him to the distillery. The Fettercairn arch dominates the entrance to the town and was built to commemorate a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1861. This symbol has also been used in the design and logo of Fettercairn malts.

Very cool history, but I will most likely never see a bottle here, 75 pounds to ship 1 bottle to the U.S. and there is also a massive Terriff on scotch. Easily $200.00 by the time it gets here.
Well, maybe still doable, it would be the only bottle in Roseville Ca. I could promise you that.
It would be fun to pull out, here we call anything hard to impossible to find a unicorn like Pappy van Winkle. You draw a lottery ticket and if you win it's $15,000 to 20,000!
    Not my idea of fun.
