Grant, I think I have never tried it but I have heard of it. I used to drink scotch in my 20's and 30's I was lucky it was a time when very good stuff was affordable here in the U.S.
I am happy when I find a bottle of anything by anyone that tastes really good and can be had for under $50.00 to $60.00 a bottle or less.
My go to for an evening is Crown Royal for whiskey but it by the 1.75 liter, I just found a really good batch of Sailor Jerry's Rum and got a 1.75 liter bottle of that.
Smaller bottles 750ML or what we call a 5th. These are usually my better more expensive bottles I drink with friends and I try to keep them no more than $60.00.
I watch sales here a lot to try new whiskey's, In California alcohol has high taxes.

I am just now starting to try different whiskeys , when I was in High School Jack Daniels was 90 proof not 80 proof and that was the only whiskey of my generation.
I have a good friend one of my sons coaches who loves Irish Whiskey and his favorite is Red Breast . He said , I 'll let you try some next time you come over.
I have only tried Jameson and it was terrible.
I can get Sexton SM here for $27.00 here, I saw you liked it.
What is different about Irish whiskey?
You seem to really have a lot of knowledge in this area.

Red breast is nice. I've a stashed bottle of their 15yr old.
Red is what the Irish call single pot still whiskey and has a mash of both malted and UNMALTED barley, plus it may have some oats in too.
Pot still whiskey is a bit like scotch malt and a little Rye in thanks to the UNMALTED barley.

Yeah, too much to not be considered a special treat.
Might try it out when I get an excuse, will have to stick to the Green as a regular.

another good daily is Glen Grant 10.

I just got a fancy one in for my collection.. a limited Tomatin cask strength.. only 240 bottles or so. was a Master of Malt special

A nice wheated bourbon this.. honey, vanilla and buttery.. long smooth finish.. superb stuff.

..guarenteed to get your eyesight back after 24 hrs only joking.. if you like wheated then this is as good as youll find for reasonable money

Grant, you must have a very large collection of whiskeys .
How long have you been collecting them?

this lot varies but one goes back about 10/15yrs i guess .. my last bottle of george dickel in the old label.. not had heart to drink it as its a link to my past when i had a huge collecton, and especially bourbon... i got pissed off once and drank the lot over a period of a year and damn near killed myself... what a way to go it was tho
