Scotland's Jack Daniels is Famous Grouse.
I say that because JD is the most consumed whiskey by far in the U.S.
And if what I read is true FG is the most consumed in Scotland.
    Dose Scotland have Rednecks?
So tonight I am paying homage to Scotland's Famous Grouse. And I get to use my Famous Grouse cork stopper!
Peat forward, fast moving legs but sweet cookie ,like animal crackers, mint orange zest . Not bad a little vanilla and lemon furniture polish at the finish. I wish it was at least 43%.
Seriously pretty good stuff but not as good as Naked Grouse by a long shot.
I would never say no if offered a glass. It's like a peated Irish Whiskey ,has short bread through out the whole sip.The peat is really only in the arrival ,maybe into the middle.
Naked Grouse is far less pleated with a very well balanced sherry influence.
Of the two I would ask for Naked Grouse every time.

ha, well not in the ways of america i guess,(although we probably have the equivolent) but historically we did have the Covenanters in 17th c..they were often called red necks as the often wore a band or red cloth round their necks and signed stuff in blood etc. religion and all that eh.

as for the famous grouse, its a very popular whisky in pubs etc

I can see why FG is popular ,it really is very good and at $20.00 a bottle!
Your bottles are even better being sold in Liters, It's a staple in any home.
Someone said the GlenMorangie 10 is at every Scottish wedding , another on my short list to try.
It's easy to find here too.

Langskip again from Wolfburn distillery. Cask strength this too although so smooth you'd not think it.
Everything about this craft distillery is quality. Corks to labels, all the best. Needless to say the spirit is as great.
Think they are about 8 yrs old now, so gives an idea of whisky timescales there.
