I had a little Jagger, it tastes a lot better when it 2 degrees F and your out hunting.
It's been years since I've had some and it will be years before I have any more.
The high point tonight was the Carlyle I re casked 2 times. It is actually pretty good and I don't feel bad about adding a big chunk of ice to it.
It's got a Highlands like peat thing going on, I like it better than JW Black Label .

    Carlyle looks a nice colour.

This arrived. Got from House of malt. . I also got a gift of a miniature of same 155,and a couple of badges from Wolfburn distillery after I spoke with them earlier in week. The bottle is Ltd Ed so for now will keep it in collection. Nice to have the miniature. Its a port finish.

Grant, you are getting on pretty well with the Wolf Burn, seems a good match to your flavor profile.
Can you give use some tasting notes?
The Carlyle has a good amount of caramel color added for sure. It was not this dark before putting it in the Rum then Bourbon then Red wine cask !
It was already as dark as a 6 year old Bourbon when bottled.
It is peat forward to the finish, but there is a lot of other flavors going on now Carmel, Dark bitter sweet Chocolate, cherry, orange, green apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla.
I was told it is a popular seller because it tastes like a 10 year old scotch at $19.99 for 1.75 liters. So people buy a lot of it for mixing.
I gave it 4 more months with our thermostat set at 76f ,so it has taken on a lot more depth of flavor and the legs run much slower.
It is better in my opinion then black Label ,having about the same amount of peat but not the body of flavor, the Carlyle is far more viscus in the mouth.
I think a Red wine cask adds a nice fruity note to scotch and because this is not an expensive single malt , after a hot day at work if I want to put in a giant cube of ice, there is no shame or guilt.
Rebreast 15 and Glenfarclas 21 are my top favorite whiskeys. I like the dark fruits and shortbread in my dram. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy something different , I do like Famous Grouse for there short bread and fruit flavors.
Glad at least one bottle I like is reasonably priced.
I would like to hear what your all time favorites have been, those memorable drams?
My cabinet is packed from top to bottom. I can't pass by a liquor store with out stopping in now!

Yeah that's quite a collection Jeff. Will try and think of a profile point, but it's just that bit different from the norm even tho they change it about. Think langskip will be closer to their profile.
Tried the port one tonight. It's quite a nice drop but it for me needs that drop of water

Ok, that's interesting... Just tried a wee nip in my Glencairn tasting glass, with the usual 'teardrop' of water, and to my palate it's very nice indeed! The smoke is only very slight, unlike that of the Lagavulin 16 I had to give away, as for me it was like sucking the dross from my wood burner! and it's pretty smooth without too much 'burn', with a pleasant fruitiness on the back of the palate.

I'm very happy with it. As an aside, what's your view of the Glenlivet 18? I was eyeing that up, too!
