Have we yet defined what is meant by "high end"?
Perhaps we should turn the question around and ask who spends more than 10% of their net income on audio equipment? Or more revealing who spends more on the hardware than the software?
Regarding the latter, I have probably spent as much on books as I have on music, and far more on travel (but I'm drifting off-thread with the last).

'High End' was a term coined to describe a level of quality, not of price IIRC. Although inevitably the two are connected as you can't really make very good audio equipment cheaply.

Thats was quite a lot but guess it was an ep... singles used to be 6 shillings and 8 pence, and climbed to about 7/6 in early 70's . Cant remember what a album cost, but guessing it was nearer a couple of quid.
