    Default 'bitten by the bug'

    Hello,

I've never owned a decent turntable before but have been 'bitten by the bug' since a new record shop opened near me. So my search for equipment started about a month ago - and I've been reading posts on here with interest. I've considered Dual 505, Technics 1210 and Rega Planar 3 but have fallen in love with the Michell Focus One.

I'm just about to step out and buy a used Michell Focus One. This is bundled with a Garrard 86SB Mk2.
Both turntables require cartridges and stylus, but apart from that they are in good condition. The Michell has a Hadcock tonearm - either 228 or 242, but its missing the counter weight.

I'll post some pics when I've collected them.

    All the best

    Matt

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hello Matt. Welcome to AOS.

You'll like the Focus One and the Hadcock arm is good. As Grant says, you should be able to get the counterweight sorted.

Tell us what music you listen to and what the rest of your system is.

Have a look around the site and join in any chat that interests you. Start a thread in the appropriate area and ask questions if you want to.

    Enjoy the forum,

I know what it's like to be bitten by the bug. It's a nasty persistent bug. But it's also a captivating bug.
Please tell us which TT you choose, and then post pics so that we can drool!!
    Cheers!
