Default Please help, in need of Cambridge Audio R40 crossover schematic or picture of xover.

    Hello all,

I recently purchased a pair of Cambridge Audio R40's and the crossover looks like it has been tampered with and is missing caps and resistors.
I am trying to fix the speakers and can't find a schematic on the net..

This is made more complicated by the fact that the basic board is shared by the R50 which is a four (or 3.5) way design.

I also have a pair of r50 crossovers but the different configuration is only adding to the confusion.

I have the B139 sussed out but the B110 and the t27 is harder to resolve.

Any help, pictures or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    kind regards, Matt.

If I recall, the R40 and R50 crossovers are similar, but the R40 not having the super tweeter filter section.

You could of course consider using KEF Concerto crossvers, as this speaker employed the same drivers. The bass loading obviously is different, but that should not affect the usability of the crossover.

    Here's the R50 crossover schematic.

Probably of little use, but maybe examination of the photos of the R40 crossover board shown here may help: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cambridge-...p2047675.l2557

Fantastic results from the AofS forum as per usual. Thanks so much for your help I now know exactly what i have to do.

Marco, been having major health problems which means I have spent lots of time in the care of hospitals and surgeons. I am doing a small project between procedures to maintain my sanity. And also to get myself a pair of speakers that I can listen to films on.

I hope things are good with you my friend.

    Kindest regards, Matt.

    And thank you again all.

Did you get anywhere with this in the end?

I've been servicing a badly wrong pair of r40 crossovers and I'm ok with what's going on now apart from the fact that there are an R2 and R3 on the board which are not denoted on this schem. I'm guessing they're included when one is not using the super tweeter present in the R50s. They're located in the same place as the LC network which would be used for the super tweeter should it be present.

If anyone has an pics of an original R40 crossover to look at I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for a very helpful thread thus far.

    Cheers,
    Zack

EDIT: could just be a 15 ohm dummy load in place of the super tweeter possibly?

EDIT 2: I'll upload a pic when I have more internet. R2 would be in series with R3, between input -ve and b110 -ve terminal
