    Yamaha 'cheese wedge' !! That's the one!! I still have it,though it needs a belt.I used to have both versions ( one had battery op option) If someone is interested....

    The Nak looked like it belonged in a rack, and the Yammie looked like a telephone/answering machine. Not fond of either honestly.

    Design Awards non-withstanding?Nicer than black or silver boxes?

    The Nak system i recall was all a bit like this Nak 600, slope fronted, with Pre/Amp/Sliders(?) all in a line - can't find a pic afer brief search.
    Maybe Mr Beobloke will recall?

    The vertical rack arrangement IMO looks hideous. A horizontal arrangement with sloping fascias would look far better.

    That's them! I could use the lot as i use a big slab of wood to hold my system, rather than a rack! (You're right about the rack!)
    Though, in reality, I'm contemplating simplicity these days..

    Me too, Line-Magnetic do a similar looking stack of amplification and it's nothing short of bond villain volcano-opening-rocket-control room levels.

    If these are typical of the units used in the stack, then it would look like some of the equipment we had in the electronics research laboratory where I worked:
