What do you use for a DAC?

(Sorry if I have not been paying attention - you have probably said what it was.)

The Audiolab is very, very good Guys.

A precision tool for the job, steps up even with a far more expensive Dac.
Anyone looking for a CD transport should seriously look at one of these, even if your budget is many times higher than the 379 it costs.

Like Martins comparison, it bettered my Oppo as well, and that’s been taken very far from stock.

Solid build, some heft to it too.
not much going on inside which is interesting?

uses Sabre ESS9038Q2M, one per channel.

All my perfectly adequate CD players are broken, that's what has forced me down this route. But it is giving very good results.

Lol... Yeah, I know. However, a) I know it would, and b) that combination is now likely to seriously compete with your 'adequate' standalone players when they're fixed!

    In the meantime, enjoy!

Indeed... Looks like a whole load of potential modding fun there, though!

Oh, and Martin, when you get the chance I'd be curious if you can hear any difference between the optical and coaxial outputs on the Audiolab (using their respective 'leads'), so please report back on that when you've assessed it
