    Default Stax SR-L700 + SR-L500 & SRM-353X Now On Demo!

    Hi All,

Hopefully I won’t annoy other headphone brands when I say that Stax is my headphone brand of choice, I just love the openness and detail that an Electrostatic headphone brings so when later last year it was announced that Stax would be launching 2 new headphones I couldn’t wait to try them, particular the SR-L700′s as these were rumoured to be based on the SR-009, what I consider to be the best headphone in the world, but these would be in the Lambda range and would only cost £995, could these be the perfect headphones?

So I took the SR-L700′s home over the weekend to compare directly to my SR-009′s and yes the L700′s are amazing, especially for their price. Firstly they are not as open and as airy as the SR-009′s, they are slight warmer but the bass on the L700′s is epic, anyone who says that Electrostatics don’t do bass need to listen to the L700′s, They are also slightly warmer and more forgiving than the SR-009s so on a couple of bad recordings that I tried they sounded far better on the L700′s compared to the SR-009′s.

So for me the SR-009 is still king but the L700 gets very close and is by far the best Lambda ever and I would also say one of the best headphone currently available, especially for the price. What I would love would be for Stax to get the bass from the L700 into the SR-009, maybe a SR-010 now makes sense :-)

We have also got the new SR-L500 Earspeakers on demo along with the new energiser, the SRM-353X, which can be bought as a package for £1395 which is a great way to get into Stax.

We have these on permanent demo, I have just got to figure out now if I need a pair of SR-L700′s to go with my SR-009′s as that bass is very addictive and I actually found myself last night listening on the L700′s more than the SR-009s which was a bit of a shocker :-)

I had a chance to listen the L700. I really want to thank Paul and the staff in public, simply the best place I ever been (and I've been in many places), no pressure just passion.
The result is that I'm selling stuff to go the other side of the Force. Those headphones are very good, if you like huge soundstage, clear sound....

Actually I found a decent Stax amplifier and feel so reckless to go directly to the 009.

No problem at all, thanks for coming in :-)

It really does look like Stax have a winner on their hands with the SR-L700's as we get stock every 6 weeks and they are constantly selling out, I think the 700's are going to be considered a bit of a Stax classic in years to come.
