    Default Slide Guitar

    Hi guys,

I've been turned on to slide guitar recently. Been listening to some Dire Straits and Chris Rea.

Also, I always loved Charlie Burchill's slide guitar on Simple Minds' Street Fighting Years' title track.

What albums should I be looking at for more great slide guitar?

    Cheers

Thanks. Looking more for rock than blues.

Little Feat records have some great slide, though you sometimes have to listen very hard for it. But sometimes not

That's about all I know in the rock vein; most of the great slide players I know of are blues players.

And of course, if you don't mind blues with a more rock tinge, there's the Allman Brothers Band; highly recommended is the "Live At Fillmore" album.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

My favorite Ry Cooder albums are "Into The Purple Valley" and "Paradise and Lunch".

    They're pretty folk-countryish, but with a pinch of R&B.
