Any simple answer? I've tried a few things that I found on the internet, but none so far have worked.

I think I got it to work again in XP again for a while!

I remember the cause in XP was installing Xyvos behaviour based antivirus.

Hmm, v strange. Did you have the on/off toggle set to On?

What action did you set in the drop down combo box under Removable Drive? It should save your setting when you exit the Settings App.

Yes, I read that an antivirus can affect it. Turned mine off, made no difference.

In XP the autoplay was corrupted/damaged by Xyvos and recovery options did not work. Could be a similar thing on W10 as much is based on XP. I reinstalled XP a couple of times to fix it and find out what was going on and Xyvos caused it in each instance. I did try Threatfire behaviour based A/V afterwards and that did not cause this issue (but it had others).

Its not that important that Autoplay works. I'm not going to re-install. I'm using Bitdefender free.

I think I used a third party media player back then for a while. Not sure though.
