I remember the cause in XP was installing Xyvos behaviour based antivirus.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

In XP the autoplay was corrupted/damaged by Xyvos and recovery options did not work. Could be a similar thing on W10 as much is based on XP. I reinstalled XP a couple of times to fix it and find out what was going on and Xyvos caused it in each instance. I did try Threatfire behaviour based A/V afterwards and that did not cause this issue (but it had others).

I think I used a third party media player back then for a while. Not sure though.
