Thumbs up Hello All. Richard from Suffolk

Hello to all on this forum.
Modern technology is not my strong point. But getting there slowly!
HiFi has always been of interest to me. Some may say an addiction for many years.
I do get enjoyment buying good quality used eqipment. My current system comprises of Shanling cdt 300 and Naim dac. Music first Baby reference pre. Revel Ultime gem speakers.
Modified Shanling sp80c monoblocs designed to take kt88 valves. Bel Canto fm1 tuner. My music tastes vary and have expanded as I am getting older.
Look forward to exploring this forum and sussing out how it all works.

    Hi Richard and welcome.
Nice collection of kit you have there.
As for 'expanding musical taste', it is possible to go too far ...I found myself listening to bluegrass this afternoon

Thanks for your welcomes. Should have also mentioned that not only my musical tastes are expanding but also my waistline is with age

I know there is something about the vinyl analogue sound Al,but vinyl replay for me is so much hassle and faffle. When I did have a deck and arm I became o.c.d. with all the setting up and alligning, wiping etc. !

Oh it was you that nicked it was it? I wondered where my waist was going, 68 years old or not

Welcome to the forum. Whereabouts in Suffolk are you? I lived in Shimpling, Hartest and Long Melford when I was there. It all seems a long time ago now.

PS Aha!! Just spotted its Ipswich. I worked there when I lived in Shimpling. Great roads for the Alfa every day.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Hello Richard. Welcome to AOS from me too.

That's a nice system you have there. Some photos for the Gallery section would be good.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
