Basically, it's the sticky strips cut off grey 'Post It Notes' and stuck on the cones at angles. Easily removed. It has definitely killed some of the plastic cone signature tonality. This is just to get a measure of what effects can be obtained. I have ideas about peelable rubber paint too.
Copydex was always a favourite of mine for cones.

Copydex is similar to silicone rubber, in that it does not offer great damping, although it will add mass. Polyprop and Ployurethane compounds seem better.

Sure you could buy something prettier and in a suitable colour easily enough...try a stationary shop on ebay or amazon.

It's all in hand! A few other little tricks to try yet. I also want to get the gauze dust caps out without marking the cones.

Sometimes I miss hearing your lovely system, Geoff.

Might come down to West London, sometime next year for a dew days. Wouldn't mind seeing those corner speakers!

    Sounds interesting, Geoff.

You know, you should open an online business selling refurbished Tannoy's.

I could actually do that, but there's a fair bit of competition around so it's not going to happen. However, I'm prepping my workshop and stocking up on materials so I can turn out some scarce replacement Hi-Fi parts. I won't be specific for obvious reasons, but I've spotted a few gaps in the market. (why is Tufnol so bloody expensive these days?)

Also, I keep mulling over various tonearm designs and have bought materials for experimentation. This is something I've been intending to do for the last couple of years. You can bet anything I do come up with will be unusual and of course will be featured here (and receive some stick no doubt ).

A plug n play replacement for the 3009 tonearm cable sockets would be a good start...rather than those tatty ones on sale on the bay. I really need to take my deck out of service and do some things to it, but put it off time and again.

Interesting suggestion. Of course I'd have to buy one for evaluation first though. Shame I didn't keep any of those I've had.
