Default Classical LPs - new charity sale

Starting a thread to sell a whole load of classical LPs that have been donated to the branch of CANCER RESEARCH UK where I do volunteer work.
All money, less actual postage cost, will be donated to the charity.

These have clearly come from a fanatic collector who has taken very good care of them - the LPs all look immaculate and the few I have sampled have been excellent. Some cover/sleeve markings, but I'll mention any where this applies as I go along.

This will take a while for me to sort out the whole lot (a hundred or more) so bear with me as I list them over the coming days / weeks.

If you see LPs you want then let me know and I am happy to set them aside in case there is anything else you want that gets listed subsequently.

Postage these days could well be quite cheap if I read the Royal Mail website correctly; packs of LPs up to 16cm depth (inc packaging) should be sendable for £2.80 at small packet rates!

Prices quoted will exclude postage. I will post as cheaply as I can, or to your requirements.

    I've just received a PM ....

" I'd be keen to know what lps you have in the way of

    Shostakovich
Interesting 20th Century chamber / violin / experimental / avant garde"

    ____

Well, the collector was clearly mired in music of the period mostly before the 20th century - no Shostakovich etc, mostly romantic and baroque. Think along the lines of Schumann, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Rachmaninov etc.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

OK! - thanks folks, good choices!

I'll be adding more over the next day or so, so if you'd rather wait and see if you want more (to minimise postage cost) that's fine.
