    Hi Baron

I don't know how I missed your set up....very nice. Love the Omega drive, I once had the loan of one for a month....very nice indeed. One thing worth playing with is a platform or say RDC platform for underneath it. I found it to be fussy about what it sat on the best option that doesn't mess up the look would be a set of RDC cups, into which the cones under the player can sit into. You should have a play with some isolation...I know you will be surprised by what you hear.

Mains leads too make a difference with this Shanling as well.

Thanks for the comments Neil, funnily enough I was going to look into isolation, I'll start with a set of the RDC cups I think. I've got my own filtered mains lead/block fitted which seams to work ok.

    Hi Baron

The Dais is a fantastic TT I have owned one a couple of years ago, had it fitted with 2 arm boards. One with the NA Ace Space the other a Graham Phantom. If you really want to hear how truely great the Dais can sound I'd give one a serious try.

I have the Feickert alignment guage too, great bit of kit. Love it.

Yes Andy, I really like the Dais. We only intended to get a Hyperspace but when we heard the Dais we had to have it. I used it for a year with the RB 300 which was good, but when the chance came to buy an ex-demo 12" Ace Space I could not resist

The Feickert alignment gauge came from Peter Stockwell, who was selling it a month ago. Thanks Peter. I have 4 turntables so it will be quite useful.

When I visited Notts Analogue Tom Fletcher was working on a prototype of the Dais. I was invited to lift the platter and nearly put my back out - much to Tom's amusement.

I didn't love his demo system - I thought the speakers were to blame and sounded dull and uninterested. But I did very much enjoy his hospitality and his record collection.

Yes I bought a turntable and a twelve inch arm.....

    Cool Arm Change

I've just fitted my RB300 arm to my GL75 in my loft system. It sounds very good. I'll post some pictures when I tidy up, its a bit of a mess at the moment.
Next job is to build a better plinth. Ideas please. Must be Quick and easy

    Hi Philip

This is what my Lenco Looks like, it might give you some ideas for your plinth

Top and bottom are Beech Butchers Blocks and the deck is attached to a combination of laminations of Ply and MDF, the underside of the Lenco is damped with Dynamat and shaped Ply.

The bottom of the Silver supports are I think Ceraballs, 2 dished cups with a ball bearing seperating them, were effective in deed.

    Hope it helps.

    Question

    Thanks Andy,
I was thinking of butchers blocks. When you cut the corner out to accommodate your arm how did you support the top plate afterwards? At the moment as a temporary measure I've just drilled a new hole for the RB300.

    Hi Philip

As the depth of the wooden block is greater than the depth of the Rega Arm pillar, the solution was to make it a tight interference fit. Not totally ideal but a very good solution, to stop the arm rotating there is a small device the sits aside the arm piece that has the Bias adjuster on it and tonearm clamp, I also have an Ian Wrigglesworth VTA adjuster on the Rega arm. Hope that makes some sort of sense to you, if not I can take a photo if it helps. Technically it is not a brilliant solution but it works very well in deed, the sonic results are excellent and gives my main TT a good run for it’s money.

It would be nice to see a colseup of the arm piller aera if its not to much trouble.
