I'm always amazed how cheap these can be had for....
You are right the oak finish looks very nice. I had the 752 Freedoms in the standard black ash. Great sound. Sold it to a mate's son for I think £50 and still going strong. If I recall someone dropped a lego brick in it via one of the ports. Never bothered to retrieve it.

Bit of a rare thing here:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-AS...AAAOSwt4ddf7RH

It's not just an amplifier, but the full set of Yamaha's original Active Servo Technology AST-A10 amplifier and AST-S1 speakers. You can only use them together as you have to plug a special matching cartridge module into the amp according to which model of Yamaha AST speakers you're using (this amp also comes with a cartridge for conventional speakers).

They use a fancy impedance matching system to draw bigger bass out of a small cabinet and it works surprisingly well.

I'd imagine the seller was finalising a sale outside ebay and stuck the price up to prevent someone starting the auction. And then removed the ebay listing once his non ebay sale completed ok. Or something like that.

Not 100% sure. I would imagine so if an auction has not started. In any event the seller did not seem to want any bids. But who knows.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
