Think the model is LS P9300

1989 then so I was almost a decade out. They fail the Beobloke 'Silver dust cap' test...

    Absolutely.

They also fail the Beobloke “speaker design by standing across the room and throwing random drive units at the baffle to see which ones stick” test.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Kenwoods are not even made in Japan. The tweeter looks rather like a dollied up version of a European design. (a little hard to tell as my eyesight is rubbish)

Much as I favour multi-way speakers I think in this case you might be right. Designed to impress the rubes. Probably still better than a Linn Kan though...

That won't be difficult - virtually anything is better than a Linn Kan.

Apart from the Linn Index. Notable for its flat, two dimensional and uninvolving sound. In fact, you could pair them with an Audiolab 8000a amp and produce a new standard for dullness.

Which could possibly be partly countered by employing QED Silver Anniversary speaker leads (god, what a horrible thought).

    What a bargain

It's not an easy install, and the cable takes a month or two to incrementally settle down once moved.
    Of course, bwaaahaaahaaa

Poking red hot knitting needles into your ears is preferable to listening to Kans.

    IMHO, of course.
