But yes, a lot depends on how much a repair would be ... but even at a cost of £200 for repair she would still be quids in if the cosmetics are good .... certainly worth more than the £50 asked on Gumtree (with the tuner thrown in) - even if not working.
I simply suggested she checks sold prices on Ebay and consider getting it repaired and re-advertise it.
I got my Marantz CD63KI by contacting the seller (lovely elderly gent) and telling him it was worth a lot more than the £30 he was asking for it (he didn't know KI was different to SE) he was so grateful for my honesty he sold it to me for £95.
