I thought that too, I thought a good starter deck that would take quite a bit more cash to beat it.

That's the main drawback of living in Scotland especially in this game, very few deals or even choice up here, but then maybe that's a good thing

AKG Q701s, apparently a year old and a mere £90...although the seller has 1 feedback.

Exposure Super XVIII sitting at £99.99 with a day to go. Fabulous power amp and they often don't sell for what they could IMHO.

I'm never entirely sure what a seller means by "clean" though, as in "a nice clean example". It seems a waste of time to refer to whether something does or doesn't need a quick wipe, so it just makes me wonder whether a seller is trying to infer that something's in good cosmetic condition when in fact it's probably showing its age, but is nonetheless not dirty

I think it is meant like it is with cars: no scuffs, dings or scratches.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Minty mint classic ... don't know whether this is cheap or expensive. Piece of history one way or the other.

I would read that as “there’s a lot of rough ones out there, this one has been looked after (but bear in mind it’s 25 years old or whatever).

FWIW Steve brought a Naim SN2 to mine for a demo, he was a spot on guy so I think you could buy with confidence.

There's nothing unusual in twenty or thirty year old amplifiers or other items being in mint or near mint condition. I have several.
