    AR7 speakers. Similar problem here.

No original drive units! Just cheapo replacements.

Again. Ruined speakers, only fit for the skip!

I hope so. my speaker purchases just get bigger and bigger!

I saw them pop up and did a bit of reading. hopefully they should not be too expensive to sort (if indeed they need sorting) compared to what they are worth.

I will let you know how I get on...

The pushed in tweeter dome is not good, but the bass drivers are totally wrong. They could be Richard Allen units (maybe).

These speakers are not worth bothering with and are scrap as far as I'm concerned.
Funny enough I did wonder about the bass units with the red ring.

On a different subject I nearly bought an SME V Tonearm for under £1300 from eBay last night, unsurprisingly it was sold when I looked a short time later.

A known seller and would have sold it for less outwith eBay. Never mind wasn't really needing it 😉

Are they correct bass/mid. drivers ?
If so, they might be worth a punt if you could source two AR tweeters.
    I don't know if they're available though...

Interesting that on the spec sheet they talk about 'apparent acoustic source'. 221mm behind the baffle. I have not seen that quoted before. Is it common to quote that for studio speakers? Or domestic speakers? Very precise measurement too. If I had to guess at mine it would be at least 300 mm. Difficult to judge really. How do they measure it so accurately?

Presumably the depth from the front of the cone to the back of the compression driver. Shouldn't be too difficult to measure. Not sure why anybody would actually need that bit of info though.
