It's worse than I thought, it's a bug I can't remove. I thought I'd got rid of all the crap, but it's come back and I'm getting loads of pop ups again and unwanted browser pages opening. Tried starting in 'safe mode' and doing a system restore. No Joy. Downloaded 'Hijack This' and 'Spybot, neither work. Shows MSE can't be relied on. The PC is usable, but it's bloody annoying. I may just re-install Windows (again) and be done with it. Now the stupid bloody thing is playing pop up movie adverts at me.

Geoff, Check for any new programs. I had to remove one that was doing the same sort of things a couple of days ago.

Finally sorted (properly)! Downloaded AdwCleaner from download.com. It got rid of it thank god. It also got rid of my browser (Torch), which I'd rather got to like. Back on I.E. for now.

Has anybody tried this? It was recommended in a recent Zone Alarm newsletter as being the most secure browser. No use to me as I use a Chromebook, but regular Mac or PC users might find it useful.

Not heard of that one. I wonder what structure it's based on (Firefox/Chrome/I.E). They tend to use one of the main ones as a base. The name WhiteHat Aviator is interesting, I'm wondering if they use a form of 'whitelisting' for the browser operation. That would be a first for a browser I think, ultimate security, as 'Whitelist' anti virus protection can't be broken (it does slow things down a bit though).

No, I've not but dragon browser is pretty secure. It uses a secure version of chrome which I think this one does. Don't know this company, although apparently from California. Comodo,s a good safe company and worth a go.

I've used Comodo Dragon a couple of times. There were minor issues which put me off. Same applies to their Firefox based IceDragon.

I keep Iron Portable on a memory stick. It's come in handy a couple of times on occasions when all my installed browsers have crashed (usually due to me buggering something up).......
