Musical Fidelity 'Studio T' power amp. Not many about in decent condition, plenty of power!

Rather scarce NAD 3150 integrated amp, currently at £45. I expect the bidding to zoom up before long (despite the spring clip bare wire speaker terminals ).

These are pretty punchy, I have the even rarer 2150 power amp version.

They've gone up, I think I sold mine for about £200 a few years ago.

Like everything else. Not much 'vintage' gear at sensible prices now.

The asking prices may not be sensible but not much is fetching the asking prices except turntables.

I see the same kit on eBay advertised month after month, same asking price, never any takers. Then you look at sold listings and see they're fetching only half what is being asked.

Mostly people don't need the cash that desperately so they think they can hold out for top whack. Also no-one takes inflation into account. If I had a quid for every time I've seen someone say 'I sold it for what I paid for it' when they've had it fifteen years. Err...the value of money has halved in that time, you've actually taken a 50% loss.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
