What does the "R" stand for or have that makes it so much more expensive?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Rare item, Pioneer PL-12D original dust cover. Good ones are very seldom seen for sale these days.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

It think it stood for 'revised' or 'revisited'. It was a return to the traditional J-shaped SME arms of the sixties and seventies, but used a thin walled stainless steel arm tube and a much improved counterweight decoupling arrangement. There were some other minor changes, but the most important was, sadly, the retention of the nylon 'knife-edge' bearing saddle. If the latter is replaced with a bronze bearing, the 3009R and 3012R arms represent a culmination of the 3000 series development, and are now highly desirable. Since SME have decided to stop making them, stop supplying spares, stop maintaining them, and stop selling any of their tonearms - that now makes them rare.

I’ll be surprised if it’s still for sale, I find most sellers take days to delete their listing if something is sold.

Too many vultures on gumtree these days if anything is going cheap, anything that comes up near me where I’ve tried to contact the seller seems to be virtually sold within minutes of being listed.
