Haven't played this in a while. I love the rasp in her voice.

Rickie Lee Jones – 'Rickie Lee Jones'

Label: Warner Bros. Records – K56628
    Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo
    Country: UK
    Released: 1979
    Genre: Jazz, Pop
Style: Ballad, Contemporary Jazz, Vocal, Boogie Woogie

Her first and probably her best: I just love the track 'Last Chance Texaco'.

Rickie Lee Jones – 'Girl At Her Volcano'

Label: Warner Bros. Records – 92-3805-1
Format: Vinyl, 10", 33 ⅓ RPM, Album, EP
    Country: Europe
    Released: 1983
Genre: Rock, Pop, Folk, World, & Country
    Style: Country, Vocal

Goodness knows why RLJ chose to release a 10" EP. Maybe it was for contractual reasons, but it is a bugger to find as it it gets pushed to the back, between her 12" LPs, so the spine cannot be easily read.

I have to say, I have her Greatest Hits album and some of the singles on it are absolutely fabulous - they've got a rock vibe to them and I love em!! "Leave A Light On For Me" just rocks!!! Also "We Want The Same Thing" is an awesome tune!!! I could go on but I wont - suffice to say, she's done some great songs and has a great voice!!

I would agree her debut was probably her best, certainly my favourite. Though I didn't buy it when it was first released.

In about 1983 "Hifi Answers" were reviewing Heybrook's HB3 speakers and this was one of the records they used. It sounded like just my sort of thing, the review described her voice as "sexy and beguiling", so I had to get it (the record not the speakers, I was pretty skint back then and the Heybrooks were about £400 iirc).

It wasn't a single, but "Nobody Owns Me" on Heaven On Earth absolutely rocks! Probably my favourite track of hers.

Some "dream pop" to wind down for the evening, Azure Ray's 4th album from 2010:

50% of Yazoo, or about 70% by volume. She's shed a few pounds since then, but I don't know what she sounds like these days. Great voice though.
