Etta James – ‘At Last’
Otis Reading – ‘Platinum Collection’
Greatful Dead – ‘American Beauty’
(Is it me, or can the title be equally read as “American Reality”? )

That’s a good one, I tend to agree it appears to morph into REALITY. The GD are a very clever band IMO one of the first to create a big marketing engine, and huge fan base.

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Nope, I have seen it that way before too (nice selection)
Jimmy LaFave • Peace Town
2018
I took Jimmy's death last year quite hard, as did many other's, but this is a fitting posthumous release - very likely to be my album of the year.
Never heard of Jimmy LaFave? Jimmy LaFave “Peacetown” (Music Road Records, 2018)
Nice summation from the album reviewer;
"This is a great album, it could be a seventies classic such is the strength and feeling of the material; it will stand as a fitting testament to a clearly gifted songwriter who has left us far too early. It is also a timely reminder that there are some wonderful songwriters and performers out there who often operate below the conventional radars but are makers of astonishing, affecting music."
"People will hear what you tell them to hear" - Thomas Edison
Bernie.
Still working my way through the charity shop haul
I'm lucky enough to have children (OK they are in their 30's) who know my musical tastes but try to find something new to me. This certainly is.
Tash Sultana - Flow State. Superb recording and really interesting music, quite a mixture of styles some of which is like 60's blues rock brought up to date. Well worth a listen.
This is sounding glorious on my new Yamaha WXC-50
Aretha Franklin - Take A Look: The Clyde Otis Sessions
"People will hear what you tell them to hear" - Thomas Edison
Aretha Franklin – good choice!
Tonight it’s been:
Josh White – ‘The Best of’
A little too gentle and smooth for my tastes – a balladeer rather like Leadbelly.
Little Jimmy Reed – ‘School’s Out’
The son of Jimmy Reed. Saw him live at a venue in North Wales and damn fine he was too.
And now:
Albert King – ‘The Best of Albert King’
Electric blues at its best.

An esoteric listen
