Michelle Shocked – ‘The Texas Campfire Tapes’

Picked this up at a boot sale today on a whim. Glad I took the punt, although new to me I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am amazed by the quality of the recording, considering it was a ‘field recording’ made using a Sony Walkman.

    Cooking Vinyl COOK 002 (1986)

Eric Clapton – ‘Behind the Sun’

Picked up at the same boot sale also in excellent condition, but sadly IMO this is one of the most anodyne records ‘our Eric’ has made. The only decent track is his cover of ‘Knock on Wood’.

    Warner 925 166-1 (1985)

    Joan Baez – ‘Farewell Angelina’

    Vanguard VSD-79200 (1965)

And now for something completely different:

Patti Smith Group – ‘Radio Ethiopia’

    Arista ALB6-8379 (2009) 180g vinyl.

If you liked this, then "Short Sharp Shocked" is another good one. Good songs and well produced imo. Carries the song "Anchorage" which you will have heard.

And I will seek out "Texas Campfire Tapes" which I've heard of but not heard.
