Second albums invariably fail to live up to debut albums, and it's not difficult to understand why. Debut albums are usually a culmination of a few years of work and will contain the best results of those years. Second albums are written and issued within a year or less from the first, so it's not surprising they are often inferior and don't live up the standard of the debut album.
