“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

If any of you like something different and unusual to listen to and can get your hands on copy of this at a sensible price then don't hesitate. I came across it as the first track, "Moonlight on spring River", is on the Dali 3 CD, (a compilation CD that comes with speakers). The album is a mix of traditional Chinese Orchestra, Chinese folk, Jazz, and Western Orchestra, with the the famous Zhoa Cong fronting on the Pipa. The album is of superb quality and of an extremely high recording standard being produced by Hans Nielsen from Denmark, a highly respected engineer and producer. Sonically it is a really wonderful album, with massive dynamics, detail and depth you only get on a few special records.

I have been searching for a copy for over a year that was not extortionately priced and found a new copy through a specialist Chinese record dealer in Canada, I parted with my money 8 weeks ago and it turned up today in an extremely strong oversize box, and very well protected inside and out. It was sent direct from China, so presumably they lease with their supplier and send records direct.

If you are interested this is where I sourced it https://malmusic.com/index.php?subca...1089205bdca2d3

If you want a listen before you go and hunt one out it is on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/24Zpe...SZuEC2Xgnt7GsA but I would recommend it on Vinyl or CD to hear it at its best. Alternatively CD SQ on Qobuz https://open.qobuz.com/album/fnab30t1px5wb, it is also available on TIDAL.

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

    Europe - War of Kings

The last but one offering from the Swedish rockers. Anyone still thinking these boys are all about 80’s poodle hair and soft rock power ballads need to check out some of their latest stuff.

Real solid Rock / Blues massively inspired by Zep, Lizzy etc.
