I seem to have my Goldring 2500 set up just right for this record, it sounds superb, great detail and dynamics. I know some do not like the PF recent re-issues but I think they are actually pretty good, at least this one is.

i think we talked about this album recently Adrian - although it is my favourite PF album I have been a bit disappointed with the SQ of my recent pressing. Of course the slow ponderous bass and all-but-missing finer details might be down to me being a bit mutton jeff, I should seek out a decent quality early pressing for comparison to be sure.Originally Posted by AJSki2fly

Oh by the way Adrian, thanks again re. the platforms - they're finally in place, I fitted spikes under them and got blocks of that Diversitech fancy rubber between them and the speakers. Too early to be sure, but the bass seems to be a bit less in quantity, a bit more in speed and tunefulness. I'll Whatsapp a pic to you.

Might be worth a re-listen now you have the platforms in place. If your pressing is the same release as mine then I noticed it is quite thick, so maybe you are getting too much bass as the VTA may be being altered too much as a result, in other words with a 180 or 200gm record the arm is slopping to much down at the rear for your cartirdge. I think we have discussed before the Ortofon 2M Black whilst being a great cartridge it is known for being very fussy about set up.
