“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

If you like Hard Rock or HM then you should have a copy of this...

    Label: CBS – 82213, CBS – S 82213
    Format: Vinyl, LP, Album
    Country: UK
    Released: 1977

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Analog Inputs: Pro-Ject Signature 10 TT & arm, Benz Micro LP-S, Michel Cusis MC, Goldring 2500 and Ortofon Rondo Blue cartridges, Hitachi FT5500 mk2 Tuner

Digital:- Marantz SA-KI Pearl CD player, RaspberryPi/HifiBerry Digi+ Pro, Buffalo NAS Drive

Amplification:- AudioValve Sunilda phono stage, Krell KSP-7B pre-amp, Krell KSA-80 power amp

Output: Wilson Benesch Vector speakers, KLH Ultimate One Headphones

Cables: Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA & Chord Epic 2 RCA, various speaker leads, & links

I think I am nearing audio nirvana, but don’t tell anyone.

Did you watch Eurovision? Babylon Zoo's version might have been the better.

Maybe I should start a new thread "What do you want to listen to instead of being made to sit through Eastenders?". Oh it's just me then, so I won't bother.

Anyway it's this, which arrived today. Very clean copy, vinyl looks mint. Had to get it, after Firebottle played some of it at AA Midlands Bakeoff earlier this month. Cost me 13 quid, but got some good names contributing. It WILL go on the record player tonight.

I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

Looks interesting Steve. I'm often weary of 'appreciation' albums, but have been pleasantly surprised by some in the past. Anyway Dwight and Taupin wrote some great numbers, and those performing the covers are more than well respected - so I think it could appeal to me.

I'll have to look out for a copy.

(BTW Who are Eastenders? Are they a 'heavy metal' group? )

I'd like to chain them to some heavy metal and drop 'em in the Thames...

I only got to hear a bit of this album, but the Sinead O'Connor track sounded quite extraordinary, as did the Kate Bush reggae version of Rocket Man! Of course I may not be as impressed when played on my set up. It's happened before.
