How are people wiring up this cable? is it with the two centre cores as hot and return and the shield connected to return at one end?

I wire mine two centre cores hot and return with the shield disconnected at both ends Mark . I tried connecting the earth wire at the source end and did't like what I heard . The sound lost focus and the bass was all over the place.

Thanks for that. Did you also try wiring both the centre wires as the hot and using the braid as the return?

I'm sure it does - but who knows, it might be better still - you don't know till you've tried it. Anyway, I've ordered some of the cable and have some spare plugs so will try the different wiring options.

Talking of doing things a slightly different way, I have bought a second lot of MC5000 so I can double up/shotgun the cables. i.e.. two conductors on the hot and two on the return. Bit busy at the moment, but I'll probably give it a go next month.

Why not just get the quadflex cable?

Wiring the cable like that means the shield is 'floating' and will have no effect, apart from increasing the capacitance slightly. Nothing wrong with that, but you could have achieved the same result by simply using a twisted pair of wires.

If you do that, you may as well use conventional coaxial cable.
