Yes - especially the facility to choose one of four pickups, each with their own individual loading and gain settings. I have four TTs - perhaps I should buy one?

I'm sure when it was first on the market about 4? years ago it was listed at about £12k, might be mistaken though.

I'd be interested if there was a version with 2 phono and 4 line inputs as my EMT's have on board phono amps and I'd rather have one of these for my 930 http://www.jpvanvliet.nl/10131.html

Looking at various forums around the world there seems to be quite a few showgoers who thought the Sibaltone room produced the best sound at the show using the WE12a & 13a supplemented witha 597a. This was a comparison against some of the best speakers the world has to offer at this time. Along a similar vein, there also seems to be quite a stir about the quality of sound reproduction fron the newly installed Denman horn at the science museum. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27483035 Both use Western Electric 555 drivers (eltus copies in the case of sibaltone although they own lots of originals).

Given that these date form the late 20's to early 30's, can we then draw the conclusion that we have generally lost our way in the pursuit of the perfect sound reproduction in the trade of to domestic acceptability and SWMBO?

It does seem to me that the longer folk spend in the hi-fi game the more they tend gravitate towards the vintage designs of speakers, mainly horns, tannoy DC or electrostatic panels, so you may have something there. Do we have any members who have been in the hobby for years but still prefer a conventional 2 way or a WAF tower?

Very true. It takes a while to wean one's self off 'flash and shiny' and learn what really works.

(mind you, I've been hooked on Tannoys since I heard the Golds around 1971)
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

"A WAF tower" - love it!

The answer must surely be no, unless they're deaf as well as hen-pecked!!

Yes I would agree but thats only half the journey that gets us back into the 1950's or late 40's. To complete the pilgrimage it seems we need to migrate back to the birth of high fidelity and the horns of the late 20's/early 30's.

OMG that is just horrendous. Even my cats wouldn't give that houseroom. Bling doesn't begin to describe it. Just slightly overdone methinks. Whatever happened to restrained good taste?
