    Therefore, again, as I've said before, all we can ultimately do is choose which form of coloration is least offensive and/or what dilutes musical purity the least, to our ears. It's really as simple as that

    Like I said before, I would never advocate the use of valves as 'effects devices'; indeed, given how believable and lifelike they can make music sound, when implemented correctly, I find the whole idea abhorrent.

    The finest, most realistic sounding music recordings I own, from the late 1950s, were produced with a large use of valves throughout the recording chain, and imbued with euphonic coloration they are not
