I have the Mercury Paul Paray/Detroit Chabrier (on CD) which is kind of special in its very Mercury kinda way. Super Audio or vinyl would be nice to try - but I think I'll check this one.out for a spin if it's on Spotify.
Another perhaps unexpected John Eliot Gardiner triumph is his recording of The Merry Widow with Cheryl Studer and Barbara Bonney. A rollicking 70-odd minutes of fun, and a nice (and viable) alternative to either of the Elisabeth Schwarzkopf versions - and in spectacular sound.
